Boos are ghostly creatures from the Mario series. They appear in many games in the main series, as well as spin-off titles. They are generally considered to be the signature undead creature of the series.
Physical Appearance[]
Boos take the shape of something similar to the typical cartoon ghost; they are pasty white orbs with small tails and even smaller arms, their face being merely small beady eyes, wide mouths with spiked teeth and a long tongue almost constantly hanging out.
Role[]
Typical of undead creatures, Boos often linger around so-called "Ghost Houses" or "Haunted Houses", especially in Super Mario World and Super Mario 64.
Some of their involvement is contradictory to their appearance; for example, they play soccer in the Mario Strikers series which is inconsistent to their legless appearance.

Trivia[]
- If Mario faces them, it has become known in many of the games of their habit of ceasing movement. Statements from Nintendo indicates this is due to nervousness of some kind.
- Boos often dislike light and are destroyed on contact with it. This is seen in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
