Carmen is a ghost character in The Suffering.

Carmen is the ghost of the protagonist's (Torque) wife. She follows him around, acting as an indicator of Torques morality, a plot element that in the end indicates how she died. The ending with the best morality will reveal her to have been killed by the game antagonists, neutral morality will have revealed her to be accidentally killed by Tourque while the worst morality will show that he intentionally beat her to death.
